The 2012 Media Skills Training Programme is one of the most important initiatives we have been championing - along side media companies, training and educational organisations, local government departments and the media skills directorate. It is intended to tie in with the new media centre being created in East London as part of the Olympic Park, bringing with it new employment and business opportunities. In order to hit the ground running an initiative has been started in which the winners attend a summer school in digital media.

Creative Way organised the entire project superbly. The event was attended by John Middleton of the all important funders, London Thames Gateway Development Corporation; also attending were David Brady, Chair, 2012 Skillset Media Legacy Programme, Liz Pearson who heads up The Creative Way, Peter Welton Exec Director of ELBA and of course the most important attendees, the award-winning creatives who treated us collectively to 20 minutes of fascinating, unusual and inspiring creative work.

Kay represented the Broadcast Centre Legacy Group (which she chairs) and presented the awards at this small, but historically important, milestone event; one which will be developed and extended next year. The winning films will be shown on The Community Channel, and the winners will attend a once-in-a lifetime summer school in digital media production at Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication - one of the most respected training organisations in the country.

So it’s onwards and upwards for Creative Way in 2010. It will grow into an inspiring digital media legacy in years to come.
