So why did I help Red Bee go Blue for a day?

Loftus Road, QPR's stadium is round the corner from the Red Bee offices - very handy - Red Bee's local team! The link actually came as a result of writing to Bernie Ecclestone. Kay had long been a Formula 1 fan (though once Michael Schumacher began his winning streak she did lose interest for a while but she knew the territory having been around the circuit (so to speak), meeting up with Jackie Stewart, David Coulthard, Rubens Barrichello, etc so had an excuse to contact Bernie (do ask her about Mika Hakkinen's Bootees one day !!!)

Kay knew that Bernie had become involved with QPR, along with Flavio Briatore, and thought she should see if there might be interest in Red Bee's services - and in the Olympic Legacy work - after all Bernie's a canny man and should be able to spot a real opportunity! To cut a long story short Bernie called a few weeks later - much to everyone's surprise and he put Kay in touch with the guys at QPR.

So to get the ball rolling Kay worked with Andy Townsend - 'Mr Piero', sports genius at Red Bee Media at the time, and lead on Partnership development Warwick Cross. The result was that a few weeks later the red carpet was rolled out for a day and Red Bee's offices turned QPR blue - the giant reception screens showed highlights of QPR over the years, self-confessed QPR fans wore their shirts, we sported flags and mascots and QPR mugs around the offices and even Pam Masters (our CEO at the time) wore a QPR badge and colours when she met the 'team' for orange segments at half time!

Pictured is the team that's really making things happen at QPR and they bring unlimited enthusiasm and vigour to their jobs.
